The Normal School of the State of San Luis Potosí was created by DECREE No.41 issued by the Constitutional Governor of the State, on March 31 of the same year, which ordered in its article, the "establishment of a Normal School for teachers of both genders".
The inauguration of the campus was held on March 4, 1849, in the Lancasteriana Principal School building, located on the west side of the Plaza de las Colecciones, today Jardin Vallejo. Its first director was Professor Don Pedro Vallejo, originally from the state of Guanajuato, and its first students thirteen young people from various parts of the State.
